Amanda Maulina, Indonesia:
“I got a scholarship from my employer Indonesia Port Corporation and it brought me to the Netherlands Maritime University of Applied Sciences (NMU) in Rotterdam. The NMU program really was a challenge for me because, with the solid master program schedule, lots of assignments, and site visits to different companies, it was a busy schedule. We also had to present our assignments – both individual as in a group – to different companies. The theory was combined with practice every time. After I finished the Master program, I found that I gained so much knowledge and it was a good experience. I met students and lecturers from all over the world, and last but not least that always I remember until today, from NMU I got a new lovely family!”
“NMU offers a great academic program that covers the main items of Shipping and Transport. In addition, the course focuses more on the practical side of these fields. Many cases and practical exercises including the field visits enlighten the practical aspects of the industry. NMU has increased my knowledge which provides me with more insights of the industry, helping the nation to grow and develop in such important industry. Nowadays, I work in a Commercial Department in Oman Shipping Company where I am very active in sourcing the best commercial deals for the company’s owner and chartered fleet.
During my study at the NMU we have been on an exchange program; I saw the difference between two nations from transport and shipping aspects. This includes future development and how different nationals prioritize their investments when it comes to future development. In addition we have experienced different cultures and learning about others. This helps me in my work nowadays.”
